Friday Night Dinners aside, it’s been a bit quiet here for a little while.
That’s because I’ve been working on something I started last christmas. A crocheted blanket I promised Roo for her bed. She’s been reminding me that it’s getting on for the time of year when she’ll want a blanket to keep her warm at night, so I thought i’d best get to it.
I’ve been crocheting these since January, on and off. But now I think I’m about twenty squares away from being able to start crocheting them together. Possibly thirty. Maybe, forty, but I hope not. Because if it is indeed forty squares, I’ll go a bit mad. They only take around fifteen minutes to make up, and the colours I’ve chosen range from bright and bold to more muted greys and greens. I hope she’ll love it.
I have taken inspiration from Purl Bee, which is a site full of yarny beauty. But I couldn’t be faffed to figure out the stitch to turn a circle into a square, because I just wanted to get on with it back in January. So instead I have crocheted regular granny squares and will stitch them all together using the same cream yarn as on the edge of the squares. The squares should almost look as if they are floating on the cream background. I hope my little Roo will love it.
So many squares, and less time than you’d think to make them all. I’ll blog the finished result when I eventually finish it.
