One of the main Mars/Venus differences between Ross and I, are our feelings on clothes shopping. Actually, the act of swapping money for goods in general, brings him out in a bit of a sweat, and forces his brow into a deep, unforgiving furrow. Whereas, there is very little I enjoy more than meandering around a shopping centre of a morning. Perhaps stopping for a coffee afterwards, whilst gazing lovingly over my purchases.
When I can persuade him to go, I pretty much pick out what I think would look good on him, and shove him, arms full, into the changing room. I can’t understand why he hates it so much; Ross looks great in clothes.
Northern Mum is hosting a competition to win a £500 Next giftcard, which appeals to the shopping addict in me, as well as to my bank balance-conscious husband. Hoorah! If I win, hopefully it will be a shopping trip he can tolerate! Entering is simple, and fun; you have to pick out Christmas outfits for your household from the collections on their website. Here are mine:
Firstly, an outfit for Ross:
I chose burgundy chinos, as not only is burgundy bang on trend for this season, but is a lovely festive colour. Ross looks great in knitwear, and grey is a good standard colour that goes with pretty much everything. He could dress it up with a shirt for work, or down with a t shirt for chilling out. I know he’d rock the Chelsea boots, but I think that is the part of this outfit that would take the most convincing.
Next up, something for me:
I really like this outfit! The green dress is just lovely – great for a Christmas party, but I reckon you could easily dress it down as well. I’d wear it with the glimmery wedges, and the black biker jacket with the gold scarf, because that’s just how I roll.
Now for the kids. Roo would look smashing in this navy fairisle knitted dress. Is there anything more Christmassy than fairisle? I am all for children dressing like children and I think this fits the bill nicely. She’d wear it with some white tights, with or without sparkly bits, and these gorgeous boots. How toasty and good for stomping in!
Elliot would look too darling in this outfit! I’ve picked out navy chinos and a grey hoody with navy stars. But my favourite part of this outfit are the dinky little hi tops! They look like they’d keep his feet warm whilst we go on the school run, and because they are hi tops, I really don’t think he’d be able to get them off too easily.
