Last year, any resolutions I may have made got swiftly forgotten on Valentine’s day when my son decided to make his entrance into the world. Then that pesky PND thing happened which took up most of the spring and summer and is definitely still ongoing (thank god for Sertraline). But to lift my spirits and give me something to focus on as 2012 dawns I’m making a few resolutions that I should be able to stick to.
1) I’m going to try out new recipes. I’m going to give myself a target of at least one new recipe a month. I’m going to find a recipe I’ve never cooked before and have a bash at it. It will be something I don’t usually cook, with the intention of introducing Roobarbs and Elliot to new foods and tastes.

2) Carry on crafting. This year I intend to make a proper go of Pretty Little Hooky Things, starting with some pretty little hooky cards for Valentines Day. If you want to support me in this, you can boost my confidence by joining the PLHT facebook page, or you can buy my stuff over at folksy. I’m also going to make Ruby a Rapunzel dress, as her new favourite thing seems to be Tangled.
3) Squirrel away some cash. I did a loose change challenge last year, which involved posting small change (that I wouldn’t miss) into a money box, and it was just about the only resolution I managed to keep. This year I want to save a little more, and make a conscious effort to build up our family savings.

4) Be the best mum and wife I can be. I will parent the way I want to parent and not allow myself to be persuaded otherwise. I will give my children as many opportunities as I can and support my lovely husband with his work and our business.
Phew! I think that is enough to be getting on with.

That’s a pretty neat list – but also one that is realistic and full of things that will make your heart sing. I like it a lot. And I look forward to reading about how you go about doing it all in 2012. Happy New Year!
Good luck! I think parenting the way you want to is a fab resolution to have. Parenting is about what works for us and our families, not what works for others!
Lovely list :) I look forward to seeing your cooking results especially! I will get there too! x
I like the new recipe resolution, especially as it’s one a month. Feels more achievable than one a week! The small change one is a great idea. So easy to do, but helps save those pennies for something worthwhile at the end of the year. Good luck. x
