Juicy Tuesday: Waldorf Salad Juice

DSC_1030Right, I know this sounds a bit odd, but hear me out, when have I ever given you a dud recipe?

Open your mind to Waldorf Salad Juice.

Think for a moment about the components of a Waldorf Salad: Apple, celery and walnuts (and mayonaise, but forget about that).  It’s good, it’s tasty, who doesn’t love a Waldorf salad?

Now think about swapping the walnuts for grapes, and throwing a pear in there, too. Yeah? YEAH?

Grapes are pretty easy to juice. Pack a good sized bunch, stalks and all, tightly into the machine, to get the maximum amount of juice.  If you use red grapes, you’ll get an incredibly sweet, beautiful blush coloured juice.  The celery does add a more savoury undertone, but you should know that despite the celery, this is a very very sweet juice.  Roo loved it.

I made this juice using:

  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 2 apples
  • a nice tasty bunch of black grapes
  • 1 pear (thrown in for good, sweet measure)

This makes a smallish glass of juice, approximately 250ml, and as you can see from the photos, you get an awful lot of foam on top, which you can easily mix into the juice.  Next time I make this, I’ll strain off the foam, and top up with soda water for a summery refresher.
