August Loves

I’m starting a new monthly post as of now, about all the things that have caught my beady eyes, that I’ve used and loved, all collated here in a nicely packaged up post.

Last month I picked up a Clinique Chubby Stick and have been using it pretty much every day since.  Despite it’s name, which, let’s face it, sounds a bit… porny, it’s rather excellent, and available in tons of colours, which makes it accessible to everyone.  And I do think everyone should have one.

Whilst the ‘Lympics were on, I caught the bug in a big way. I watched sport every day, and if you know me at all, you’ll know watching sport is something I just don’t do.  Unless it’s the gymnastics, I do love to watch a ripped man in ski pants on a pommel horse.  I got right into the track cycling, found a new heroine, and promptly went to Halfords and came back with a rather schwing new bike.  Her name is Brooke, she’s purple, sparkly, and has a white saddle and more gears than I’ll ever use (mainly because I don’t know how).  She’s light as a feather and is SO nice to ride.  I am going to have thighs of STEEL in no time flat.  If you are in the market for a new bike, check out Vicky Pendleton’s range at Halfords, they are girly and right gorgeous.

My sister lent me her Hunger Games books, and I know I am bit late to the soiree with this one, but I couldn’t put them down.  Suzanne Collins really draws the reader in, and I felt more than a bit scared whilst reading.  It’s a thrilling trilogy I just couldn’t stop reading.  Needless to say, I couldn’t wait for the DVD release and found a site to stream the film from.  The casting was great, and it was a good adaptation, but they did miss out a lot of the backstory.

Finally, I picked up some Sally Hansen Maximum Growth nail treatment whilst I was in Boots the other day.  I hate my fingernails looking shite, and they really have done recently.  You use it like a nail varnish and paint a new coat on every day for a week, over the top of the old coats.  After a week, remove it all and allow your nails to breathe for a day or so before starting again.  No more peely, weak nails.  BOOM!  It seems to work so far, and is shiny and incredibly quick drying.  Well worth £4!

What have you been using this month that you’ve loved?

    • Yes it’s a coloured lip balm, I really like it because the colour stays nicely and it doesn’t dry out my lips :)

Totally porny! What were Clinique thinking? ;-D

  1. What a lovely idea. Lucy at Attic24 does a little monthly of her calendars, and Vanessa at Coco Rose does a photo round up of her months. I like a purchases of the month idea …. I might implement a monthly round up of ‘wot I learned’ – since I am inexpert and all that.

  2. I love the idea of a monthly round up of things you love.

Trouble is that if I did it, it would just be pictures of cake. And chocolate. And more cake.
